Cleaning the Machine
Cleaning is one of the most important maintenance activities to keep your Slushie Machine working well and operational for at least a decade. Proper cleaning is important to protect the machines motor and parts, prevent bacterial growth, ensuring optimal freezing, preserving flavour, and maintaining product consistency.
We recommend the following
| Daily |
Remove liquid from Drip Trays Wipe down Slushie Machine exterior Verify the Slushie Machine is working properly (especially day/night mode) |
| Weekly |
Drain the Slushie Machine Well lubricate any bushings or o-rings Check the seals, bushings, and rear tank seals for wear and tear Clean the tanks with warm water |
| Monthly |
Clean the Slushie Machine Filters Conduct a deeper cleaning of the machine Check for wear and tear on parts |
| 6-12 Months |
Conduct a full service of the Slushie Machine Purchase a service kit with the necessary parts that will need to be replaced (typically o-rings, rear tank seals, bushings and auger seals) |
Other Helpful Hints
- Delegate a specific person that will conduct the weekly, monthly and annual service and maintenance

Making the Perfect Slushie
For hospitality venues operators, a commercial Slushie Machine is practically a license to print money. When executed properly, frozen beverage programs can drive staggering return on investment (ROI) with high profit margins. However, your Machine is only as good as the Slushie Mix you pour into it.
To help you maximize venue margins and protect your equipment.
- The Sugar Density Metric (The Brix Level) should be 12-14%
- Keep the density on the machine low, higher density settings can mean an overly frozen product
- Use a high quality Slushie Mix with a ration of 5:1. Avoid the Hidden Costs of Cheap Mixes It is tempting to cut corners by purchasing the cheapest unbranded Slushie syrup available online.
- Purchase a Slushie Machine Insulation Cover for environments where outside temperature is over 30C
Selecting the Best Slushie Machine
Investing in the right slushie machine means aligning your menu goals with your daily operations. Choosing the wrong unit can lead to frequent breakdowns, wasted product, or frustrated staff during rush hour.
Here are the critical factors you need to consider before buying:
- Menu Variety & Product Type: Determine how many flavours and types of frozen drinks you want to offer. Standard sugary slushies, dairy-based mixes, and alcohol-infused frozen cocktails all freeze at different temperatures and require specific machine capabilities.
- Space & Volume Capacity: Ensure you have enough counter space for proper ventilation as most machines require 15–30cm of clearance on all sides to prevent overheating. Additionally, verify your surfaces can handle the structural weight of a fully loaded machine (including kilograms of liquid mix).
- Maintenance & Labour Efficiency: Look for machines with fewer moving parts that are easy to disassemble and clean, which keeps labour costs low and maximises equipment lifespan. Must-have features like "Night Mode" (or standby defrost) keep product safely chilled overnight, preventing spoilage and slashing morning prep time so your team can focus on customers.
- Power Requirements: High-capacity machines often require dedicated power circuits. Make sure your venue's electrical setup matches the machine's requirements (e.g., standard 10-amp vs. 15-amp plugs) to avoid tripping your breakers.

Common Issues with Slushie Machines
Whether you're running a convenience store, a busy bar, or just throwing an epic party, Slushie Machines are crowd-pleasers right up until they start blowing fuses or turning your mix into a solid block of ice.
Most commercial work on a pretty simple mechanism: a freezing cylinder (evaporator) cools the liquid while a rotating plastic spiral (auger) constantly scrapes the ice off the sides to keep it soft. When things go wrong, it's usually because this balance between freezing and movement gets disrupted.
Machine won't freeze
- Check the Brix level of the mix, the sugar level might be too high
Machine is over freezing
- Check the Brix level of the mix, the sugar level might be too low
Machine is leaking from the bottom
- Check the rear tank seal to see if it is overly worn or misaligned
Machine augers are loud when moving
- Check to see if the auger seals are well lubricated (it should be about a teaspoon of lube)
Machine runs but doesn't get cold
- The condenser coils are clogged with dust, or the machine doesn't have enough clearance
